Reserve Dog Photo Contest?

This site,

www.firstperspective.ca/fp_combo_template.php?path=reserve_dog

had a photo contest showing off the starving, freezing dogs in Manitoba and NWT. The poem written about the dogs shows that they are aware that the dogs are neglected, but they find this notion 'romantic'. It's all done in a cutsey fashion, which makes you wonder - are they totally disconnected from what they are doing to these dogs? Do they really think the "Creator" will thank them for such mistreatment of his Creatures?

Rescue Angels

Tail tucked between your legs, Confusion in your eyes, I know it's hard to understand That someone heard your cries. When loneliness is all you know And pain is all you feel And no one can be trusted, And hunger's all too real.... That's the time the Lord sees you And lets you know He's there That's when He sends His messengers The hearts that love and care. Yes, rescuers are angels You cannot see their wings, They keep them neatly folded As they do their caring things. The medicine to make you well Good food to make you strong, And finally to help you learn That hugs are never wrong. The perfect place then must be found The home where you can live Secure and safe and happy With joy to get and give. When you reach your Forever Home, Your place to now feel whole, The Angels smile, and off they go To save another soul. Author Unknown

'I am sometimes asked why do I spend so much of my time talking about kindness to animals when there is so much cruelty to man? My answer: I'm starting at the roots.' George Angell
'Never underestimate the power of a few committed people to change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. ' Margaret Mead
Please spread the word about the plight of these dogs. Check out the links for additional resources. Contact the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies and let them know you want tougher anti-cruelty animal laws and especially tougher laws on First Nation Reserves. Dogs should not be considered 'property' like a car. Canada has not updated it's animal abuse laws since 1892. Contact your MLA and urge them to help. Tell them 85% of Canadians want tougher laws concerning animal rights. Write letters to the editors of your local newspapers. Contact Reserves and either talk to their Chief/Council or write letters to them. One by one, we will make a difference!
